Remote Areas can be best defined as those locations
where it would not be possible or economic to connect to the power grid.
Energy Storage allows remote areas to be powered by renewable thus eliminating
the need for costly and polluting diesel systems. The Energy Storage
System correctly sized can store energy from wind, wave or solar systems
at times where there is excess capacity so that energy can be regenerated
when the wind, wave or solar systems are not able to produce sufficient
energy to meet consumer’s needs.
The benefits of using energy storage in this
configuration are independence from the high and possibly fluctuating
price of diesel (the most common form of power for remote areas). The
ongoing transport of fuel is eliminated.
